Limited edition of 1500 copies of the most beautiful Tarot said “of Marseille” known of the so called “Type I” (which differs from the “Type II” in particular by the loincloth and the cape of the character of the World and the stomach decorated with a human facies on the Devil) realized in Avignon, France, in 1713 by Jean-Pierre Payen, master card maker and engraver who settled down in Avignon in 1710. The present edition is based on the originals of the Swiss Game Museum of The Tower of Peilz in Switzerland, the Museum of the Playing Card from Issy les Moulineaux in France, and the Beinecke Library of Yale University in the United States of America, which allowed together to release this magnificent edition of a deck that was besides never republished previously.
